Interview : Abhishek Bachchan | SocialExcerpts

We promised we’ll bring to you a series of ‘celebrity interviews’, a casual chit-chat with socialmedia celebs who are effectively using different social networking channels. Last time we brought you the interview of Maria Memon, Lahore based journo working for GeoTv. Today we bring you the interview of award winning popular Indian actor and producer Abhishek Bachchan. Already almost 40 films, veteran, he needs no introduction. Enjoy.

SocialExcerpts: Share with us that first moment which inspired you to become an actor. When did you realize you have this potential?
Abhishek Bachchan: As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be an actor. I don’t think there was any “first moment“ which inspired me. I guess coming from a film family, it was almost a natural progression for me. Potential? Still trying to figure out if I have any.

SocialExcerpts: Which part of your work do you enjoy the most?

Abhishek Bachchan: The whole thing. The fact that I get to wake up every morning and live my dream. Everything about being an actor in the Indian Film Industry.

SocialExcerpts: Who inspires you more as an actor – the great Amitabh Bachchan or the spectacular Jaya Bachchan ?

Abhishek Bachchan: Both of them in equal measures. They both are brilliant and a source of great inspiration. However, I also get very inspired by my colleagues and all the new talent that is coming into films. I love their enthusiasm and new and unique approach to their craft. I learn a lot from them.

SocialExcerpts: Which do you consider to be your first professional achievement? What about the greatest?

Abhishek Bachchan: That would definitely be my first film. The day I was signed on by JP saab. That was a huge deal for me, getting ones first job always is. Greatest, I hope, is yet to come.

SocialExcerpts: Who do you admire the most among the contemporary female-actors? Why?

Abhishek Bachchan: I have huge respect not just for the contemporary female-actors but all of them. A lady’s job on a film set is far more demanding than the men. They have many more departments to take care of.

SocialExcerpts: Of the popular trio in the social networking sphere, among Twitter, Facebook and Google+, who do you side with and why?

Abhishek Bachchan: I’m partial to Twitter. I guess because it’s the most accessible and simplest of the three. It’s also more direct.

SocialExcerpts: What motivated you to enter the online world, via Twitter? How difficult does it get for an actor of your stature to manage such social profiles, all by yourself?

Abhishek Bachchan: My friends Tarun Mansukhani (director of Dostana) and Shristi Arya (producer of Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai and Drona) convinced me to join Twitter. Its not very difficult, you can always make time.

SocialExcerpts: How important do you think it is, as an actor to use social media to connect to fans as well as to promote your movies?

Abhishek Bachchan: Its a choice, I don’t think it’s professionally important. I choose to be on social media because it allows me a platform to interact with my audience one-on-one. Otherwise the only medium we have to interact with our audiences is through a Third person i.e. The media. It’s nice to be given a platform to hear what they think and feel and vice-versa.

SocialExcerpts: What does close to 1 million ‘Twitter followers’ mean to you?

Abhishek Bachchan: It just means that there are a million  people out there who are gluttons for punishment. (ha ha ).

SocialExcerpts: Word of advice to budding actors for using social media as a platform to promote themselves – ?

Abhishek Bachchan: They shouldn’t do it! It won’t get you anywhere, this platform isn’t just for self promotion. It is a forum to exchange ideas and view. A forum to share. Anyone who’s sole purpose is to promote won’t get very far in this space..

Not just that Abhishek is a very able actor, how quickly he has got the grip of a social media platform, is evident from the last reply.
Next interview in line, is Crystal Matthews. The stunningly beautiful fitness model and IFBB Pro Bikini Champion 2011, Crystal is the girl to look out for in 2012 ! Watch this space.
